How was the Slim
Fast program started?
Slim Fast has been available for over twenty years. It was created
in1977. Slim Fast was originally a range of milk and soy-based milkshakes
developed by the Thompson Medical Company. Unilever then acquired
the Slim·Fast Foods company in 2000.
How does the Slim
Fast program work?
The slim fast plan works with the concept of replacing several
meals with their shakes and/or other products while adding food
rich in vitamins and fiber. It is also known as a form of liquid
diet. The idea is to replace breakfast and lunch with slim fast
and eat one sensible meal. Basic example: breakfast you would have
a shake along with some sort of fruit or low calorie muffin, lunch
would consist of a shake with a half turkey sandwich, and dinner
would be a nutritionally balanced meal low in calories and rich
with vitamins and fiber. You are also to have a healthy snack between
each meal. Exercise is also a key ingredient with the slim fast
plan. You should find an activity or two that you enjoy and continue
to do them regularly. Enjoying the activity makes it easier to continue
the activity long term. It can be a simple activity like walking
or swimming. Whatever the activity you do, consistency is the key.
The goal of the slim fast program is to burn more calories then
you consume, while consuming foods that provide you with proper
vitamins, fiber, and all the essential nutrients.
What
are the Pro's of the Slim Fast plan?
There are over 20 published studies that have concluded the success
rate for loosing weight and maintaining the weight off is high.
This program allows people to eat many of the things they enjoy
as long as they eat sensibly. The slim fast program is much cheaper
then some of the more popular diet programs. They teach participants
to use everyday foods along with slim fast products instead of only
slim fast products.
What are the Con's
of the Slim Fast plan?
Staying with any diet program is difficult. This diet can be difficult
to maintain if one doesn’t like the products that need to be incorporated
with everyday eating. There also can be a dependency on the products
which take away from learning how to get all the nutrients through
natural food consumption. It is cheaper than many diets, but still
can be too costly to maintain long term.
