Metabolic boost is in the form of thermogenesis, which can induce the breakdown
and release of stored body fat, thereby allowing stored fats to be turned into
energy. The active components of Guarana are guaranine and the alkaloids theobromine
and theophylline. Guaranine is similar in chemical structure to caffeine, and
has many of the same effects. On major factor that is different from coffee/tea

Guarana also contains tannins, which may account for its traditional use in treating
diarrhea.
